                                      IT WAS ALMOST PERFECT
                                               (Died While Dialing)

He sat in his disgusting apartment with the shades down and the lights were off.  The only light that shined was that of his small flashlight, he usually used it to lower his electric bill, but it also helped him not to see the large cockroaches that scurried across the floor.
But tonight he used the darkness to help him hide from the crime he had just concocted.  He shined the small light onto the phone that sat upon a cardboard box.  Then scanned over to the clean and soft stroller where a baby slept peacefully.
His plan was working perfectly, and after one little phone call he will be rich.  He would have more money than from working at any job he ever had.  Then again, he would have never thought of this plan if his boss hadn’t fire him from the Quickie-mart.  So he stocked the Fluff next to the pencils instead of next to the peanut butter, was that any reason to fire him?
But he swears to have his revenge.  After carefully waiting in front of his boss’s house for days and days, he finally saw his opportunity when he followed his boss’ wife to the mall.  He watched as she pushed along her baby girl in the stroller as she walked passed the fancy shop windows. It wasn’t until she stopped at the jewelry window, when he came up with his greatest plan.  The shinny diamonds must have kept her eyes dazzling, because it was enough time to move in and slip the baby stroller away.
Now that he was back in his apartment he was ready to dial his boss’ phone number and demand his ransom for twenty thousand dollars.  He tried to calm his nervous, but excited thoughts, and picked up the receiver of his phone and started to dial the numbers.
He could hear the phone ringing as he waited for a voice to answer.  He then started to think about how to say his words for the ransom.  I have you daughter. You have three hours to come up with twenty thousand dollars
When the phone connected he heard a voice answering on the other side of the telephone.
         “Cheesy Charles.”
It was almost perfect, if only he could remember the phone number.
